The students proposed a research objective that required the use of population-based data available in INCLASNS (Spain), INE (Chile), or DEIS (Chile). The students could design a descriptive, comparative, and/or trend study, or an evaluative study of a health-related event or policy of interest. Once the desired objective was determined, the indicators used to address the objective were explained, data were extracted from the system, and a basic analysis of the obtained data was conducted. Considering that causal inferences cannot be drawn from these types of studies, the main conclusions obtained were explained.
