The central objective of this course, conducted in collaboration with Queen’s University, was to develop the skills to design a controlled production blasting based on a real case, using design software available in the laboratories (ShotPlus 5) and fundamentals in explosive selection, fragmentation curves, and slope damage.
Making decisions based on real cases requires understanding the fundamentals of this process and jointly defining the best design alternative. In this way, the students (Queen’s – UDD) engaged in collaborative work and discussed the results based on a real case of a mining operation in Chile.
