«Collaborative Online International Learning» is a collaborative methodology between students and professors from differente countries. A professor at UDD, within the course, connects students in a virtual manner with students from another foreign institution. The objetive is that students carry out activities and tasks together previously designed by both professors.
Since 2020, UDD has encouraged its different schools to implement this methodology. As a result, 56 courses have been conducted in a COIL format.
An international classroom experience without having the need of going abroad!
Students, by working with a foreign peer, develop important abilities in today's world: cultural empathy, knowledge of other cultures, communication, team work, linguistic competence, among others.
The majority of students do not have the opportunity of going abroad during their university years. Therefore, this methodology gives them the possibility of interacting with students from other countries in a virtual manner.
Both students and professors are given the option to develop new contact networks, creating new academic and personal bonds.
